On December 12, PSG is set to face Borussia Dortmund in their decisive Champions League group stage match, with the opportunity to clinch the top spot. Currently in second place, trailing Dortmund by three points, PSG can secure first place with a victory, relying on the head-to-head tiebreaker. Manager Luis Enrique is pleased that PSG’s destiny is within their control.

Despite Dortmund having already qualified with 10 points, their position at the summit is still contestable. The outcome of the match against Borussia Dortmund will determine PSG’s fate in the competition – a win secures their lead, while anything less might jeopardize their advancement. Concurrently, Newcastle United and AC Milan, both with five points, are positioned to capitalize on any missteps by PSG as they face off at the same time.

Speaking on Tuesday, Luis Enrique acknowledged the complexities of the situation for all teams involved but highlighted PSG’s advantage, stating, “Borussia have got through but their position is still up for grabs, the other two teams do not have their fate in their hands, while we do.” He acknowledged the challenging nature of Champions League games, especially away matches, but emphasized that PSG’s approach and objectives remain unchanged.

Throughout the competition, the PSG manager had consistently predicted that the outcome would be determined on the final day in what was dubbed the “Group of Death.” Enrique remarked, “It’s down to logic because the differences are so small, it has been like that in every game.” He reflected on the closely contested matches, acknowledging that PSG could have won or lost any game in the competition, making the final day a crucial factor as anticipated.
