Friday, April 11, 2025, Lorji Community received an august and illustrous personality. A moment that has kept the community in an evergreen memory of an uncommon philanthropy. Chief Barr. Success Obioma Akagburuonye made an indelible landmark on the sand of the community’s education and missionary development.

Chief Akagburuonye, visited his alma mater, Lorji Community Secondary School, to appreciate the sterling values and impact it made on him. In his culture of leaving a footprint wherever he goes, he bankrolled the NECO registration of 87 students in the SS3 class, with extended financial gesture to the principals, teachers, and the entire students, to the tune of N5 million naira.

His fellow Alumni were not left out of his scheme of benevolence. He gave them N6 million naira, out of which they got N300k each.

Donating to the Church, he made a stop-over at St. John’s Anglican church, Lorji, where he picked the bill for the aluminum doors and windows of the newly constructed auditorium, for which he had earlier bankrolled the long-span aluminum roofing, all amounting to humongous millions of naira.

But particularly interesting is the NECO examination registration, which the result was phenomenal, forming a beacon of hope for those that would like to study further. Out of 87 students that took the exam 74 made five credits and above, even as their WAEC result was said to be poor.

Impressed by the performance of the students, the philanthropist extra-ordinaire and real estate icon, Barr. Success Akagburuonye, has requested that they be presented to him for further sponsorship. Ndi Lorji are musing in wonder, stressing that this kind of uncommon gesture can only be dished out by an uncommon philanthropist. They are indeed, overwhelmed.

Akagburuonye, a frontline gubernatorial aspirant in the 2027 Imo State gubernatorial election, is a leading real estate icon in Nigeria, trading under Praco Int’l Ltd. He is the Founder of Hope Rising for Imolites, a socio-political organization.

In his political journey, he has proven to be an true democrat; building people, communities, and structures, and contributing immensely to the social and political wellbeing of the state and federal governments without selfish recourse to political party affiliations.

Through his foundation, ‘Hope Rising for Imolites, Akagburuonye has extended medical, financial, educational, social and entreprenual supports to multitudes of Imo youths, the elderly, women and children. He has used the platform to offer many Imo people seed capital to start or augment their businesses, lightning up communities with solar power technology, providing medical tests and treatments, with appropriate drugs and facilities, and entrepreneural skill acquisition and hands-on kits, etc. This bears an eloquent testimony of his innate interest in the welfare of Imolites that transcends political leanings.

He has opened business channels to address youth unemployment and curb criminality by setting up Obisco water manufacturing company, Akaraugo Micro-finance bank, Peace Be Still Hotel, etc. in Aboh Mbaise.

Supporting the efforts of the current administration of Imo State-led Governor Hope Uzodimma to curb insecurity, Engr. Success Akagburuonye has attracted and built an Area Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) at Ogbor Uvuru, to check criminal activities in the three local government councils of of its coverage; Aboh, Ahiazu and Ezinihitte Mbaise, and by extension Imo State at large.

As an ecumenical christian, Chief Akagburuonye, who owes his wealth and wellbeing to God’s Grace, has invested generously in the advancement of God’s Kingdom, building churches and donating for evangelical, apostolic and eclisiastic projects, across the orthodox and pentecostal. A member of the Assemblies of God Church, he single-handedly built the ‘Noah’s Ark’, a multi-million and the first-of-its-kind’ church auditorium, designed after the Biblical Noah’s Ark’, at Ogbor Uvuru.
