Kaduna State will be holding its local government elections on 19 October, according to an announcement made by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM). The commission’s chairperson, Hajara Mohammed, disclosed the date during a meeting with political parties and stakeholders in Kaduna on Tuesday.
Mrs. Mohammed highlighted that the current council members took their oath of office on 1 November 2021 and their three-year tenure will conclude on 31 October. As per the provisions of section 25(1) of the KAD-SIECOM Law 2024, the general public has been informed that the local government council election will take place in Kaduna on Saturday, 19th October 2024, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
In addition, the commission has released the election timetable along with the 2024 election guidelines. This ensures that all concerned parties have access to the necessary information and can adequately prepare for the upcoming elections.
Emphasizing their readiness to conduct a fair and transparent election, the chairperson assured political parties and stakeholders that KAD-SIECOM is fully prepared for the scheduled date. The commission is responsible for organizing the elections of chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and councillors in the state, and they are committed to ensuring a smooth electoral process.
With the announcement of the election date, political parties and candidates will now have ample time to campaign and connect with voters across Kaduna State.
