In a recent development, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced some minor adjustments to the state’s cabinet positions. This announcement was made during the ongoing 2023 On-boarding retreat program for the State Executive Council and the body of Permanent Secretaries on Friday. The theme of the retreat is “Navigating Government Excellence: Role of Leadership in Ensuring A Greater Lagos Rises.”
Here are the key cabinet changes:
- Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih: Dr. Finnih, who previously served as a Special Adviser in the Ministry of Health, has been reassigned to the role of Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This shift indicates a focus on sustainable development and aligns with the state’s commitment to achieving the United Nations’ SDGs.
- Engr. Abiola Olowu: Engr. Olowu, who formerly held the position of Special Adviser in the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, will now take on the role of Special Adviser in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, specifically in the Office of Mineral Resources. This change suggests a realignment of priorities within the government, possibly reflecting a greater emphasis on energy and mineral resource management.
These adjustments to the cabinet are indicative of the government’s commitment to effective governance and the dynamic nature of public administration. They reflect the governor’s efforts to ensure that the right individuals are in the right positions to drive the state’s development agenda. The retreat itself underscores the importance of leadership in realizing the vision of a Greater Lagos.
