Kogi security forces demolish bandit camps, arrest wounded suspects

    Published on

The Kogi State Government has intensified its war on banditry with a fresh operation that led to the demolition of criminal camps and the arrest of two wounded bandits and their fake doctors in Aherin-Bunu community, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.

The operation, led by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), followed credible intelligence that injured bandits were receiving medical treatment from local healers in the settlement.

Omodara said security agents stormed the hideout, arrested the suspects, and razed the makeshift clinics and surrounding camps used as bandit sanctuaries. The criminals were believed to have sustained gunshot wounds from a recent encounter with security forces.

He disclosed that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo had ordered the immediate demolition of any property used to aid or shelter criminals, warning that collaborators, regardless of social standing, would face the law.

“The Governor directed that any house or facility used to treat or harbour bandits should be demolished immediately,” Omodara stated. “We will not tolerate anyone abetting crime in this state. The security agencies have saturated the entire area; there’s nowhere left for them to hide.”

Omodara reaffirmed the administration’s zero-tolerance policy for banditry and criminal collaboration, noting that the ongoing operations were already yielding significant results across the state.
