As governorship race hots up in Kogi State,no fewer than 300 support groups from different Political parties have collapsed their structures to ensure total victory for the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord Party, Rear Vice Admiral Jibrin Usman.
The coordinator and spokesman of the support groups for Accord, Usman /Olamife campaign at the grassroots level, Dr Fred Attah disclosed this while speaking during the unveiling of the governorship candidate,Vice Admiral Jibrin Usman(rtd), and running mate, Raphael Olamife .
Dr Attah explained that all the support groups present at the occasion were drawn from all political parties, stressing that the people of the State have suffered enough at the hands of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC’s poor leadership in Kogi State.
He pointed out that the maladministration of the present government has pushed people to seek better alternative candidates to deliver dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
“This is why we all gathered here and we have resolved to work for the success of the Accord candidate, the former Chief of Naval Staff who had served in the Nigerian Navy and worked across the 36 of the federation”.
“Apart from this, Jibrin Usman is a man of track records; while he was the Chief of Naval staff, he established the Navy Secondary Okura in Dekina Local government area of Kogi State. He also facilitated the establishment of a Naval base in Banda, in Lokoja and Idah local government areas of Kogi State to boost security architecture,” he noted.
Attah further explained that it is no longer about political parties, but about personality with a proven record that can transform the state from depending on federal allocation every month to a self sustainable state.
Responding , the ex-Naval Chief of Staff, Jubrin Usman welcomed the groups and reiterated his commitment to transform the citizens from abject poverty to prosperity.
Usman added that if elected he will introduce Kogi Human Capital Development Initiative to support 50 people with N1m each every month per local government to upscale or start a sustainable business.
He promised to establish Water Transportion to facilitate movement within the water areas in the state, stressing that Accord will also establish the state television station.
” We will unlock the mineral potentials of the state and rehabilitate moribund state owned industries to create jobs,” he added.
