In a significant move, the Kebbi State Government allocated 26 operational vehicles to members of the state executive councils hailing from 21 local government areas. The distribution ceremony took place in Birnin Kebbi, where Governor Nasir Idris sternly cautioned commissioners against any misuse of the provided vehicles.
Governor Idris emphasized the historical significance of the event, highlighting the purpose of easing transportation challenges for commissioners during their official duties. The vehicles are intended to facilitate visits to localities, allowing commissioners to better understand and address challenges faced by the people in various regions.
Governor Idris clarified that the allocation of the vehicles is not for luxurious purposes within the state capital but aims to empower commissioners to return to their localities after official engagements. This move reflects the government’s commitment to being people-oriented.
Expressing a zero-tolerance policy for misuse, Governor Idris issued a strong warning, stating that any commissioner found selling or using the vehicles for unofficial engagements would face termination.
In response, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Garba-Dutsinmari, speaking on behalf of his colleagues, assured the governor that the vehicles would be used exclusively for their designated purposes. The assurance underlines the commissioners’ commitment to adhering to the intended use of the vehicles in serving the public and addressing local challenges.
