    Jos trader sentenced to 12 months in prison for stealing phone

    ‎A Jos Magistrate’s Court, on Tuesday, sentenced a 22-year-old trader, Nanzing Solomon, to one year in prison for stealing a phone.

    ‎The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of theft brought against him by the police.

    ‎The magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict to one year in prison with an option of a N50,000 fine.

    ‎While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on June 17 at the Laranto Police Station by the complainant, Julius Friday.

    ‎Gokwat said the convict stole the phone, but it was recovered from him during the police investigation.

    ‎He said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
