Since August 2024, the Jigawa State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has retrieved more than N300 million in public funds.
This was revealed by the commission’s chairman, Barrister Salisu Abdu, on Wednesday at the Manpower Development Institute during a session aimed at raising awareness among public and civil personnel.
The commission has received more than 200 public complaints since its founding, and 75% of them have been handled, according to Barrister Abdu, who underlined the agency’s dedication to accountability and transparency.
He credited the commission’s proactive strategy, which emphasizes prevention over punishment, for this achievement.
“We are working on more than just rehabilitation. When required, we also give priority to resolving issues out of court,” he said.
He also disclosed that a number of local government council chairmen, including those who are currently in office, have received invitations to be questioned over public grievances that have an impact on their councils.
The commission is committed to maintaining public accountability and good governance in Jigawa State, he said.
