The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commissioned another outpost in Isare-Opin, Ekiti local government area, as part of efforts to beef up security at the grassroots.
While commissioning the outpost which was donated to the NSCDC by Isare-Opin community, the NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Umar J. G. Mohammed, represented by DCC Olushola Davies, commended the community for their steadfastness, dedication and timely completion of the outpost.
He emphasised that the Corps would continue to be steadfast in its mission to safeguard lives and property, saying it was that commitment that was the driving force behind the ongoing establishments of divisional offices and outposts across the State.
He said: “This initiative focuses on expanding security coverage to rural areas, ensuring that all citizens, including those in remote communities, receive the protection they deserve.
“I, therefore, call on community members to offer their full support to the personnel assigned to their area and to share reliable information that will help prevent crime and criminal activities within the community.”
In his remarks, His Royal Majesty, the Alara of Isare-Opin, Oba Michael Kayode Owolabi, lauded the Command’s commitment to enhancing security at the grassroots level, assuring the Commandant of the community’s support for the officers assigned to man the outpost.
The NSCDC has also commissioned a mini-barrack constructed and donated to it by
Oba Rufus Olusegun Adebayo, the Owalobbo of Obo-Ile, for the personnel of the Corps in Obo-Ile Division.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the NSCDC Commandant, Dr. Umar J. G. Mohammed, lauded the monarch’s and community’s kind gesture, and support to the Corps, assuring them of optimum use of the facility.
In his remarks, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rufus Olusegun Adebayo, the Owalobbo of Obo-Ile, said the mini-barrack, named in honour of the Kwara NSCDC State Commandant, Dr. Umar J. G. Mohammed, was designed to provide suitable accommodation and a conducive environment to enable the officers perform their duties effectively.
He particularly commended the Commandant for his role in bringing quality security closer to his people, reaffirming his community’s readiness to collaborate with the Corps and provide all necessary support.
