In Ogun State, nine trucks carrying bags of illegally obtained rice have been seized by the Nigeria Customs Service, or NCS.

This was disclosed on Monday during a press briefing in Lagos by Kola Oladeji, Comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit, FOU, zone A.

According to Oladeji, customs officials in FOU zone A accomplished the accomplishment by stopping the smugglers from carrying the goods into the nation from the Republic of Benin.

He claimed that when the smugglers saw the agents, they got out of their cars.

The comptroller added that in order to transport the goods to the customs facility, the command sent eleven patrol cars and six more buses.

And when our officers understood this, they rented trucks and used some of our police cars to transport the goods here in accordance with our policy of not shooting at any smugglers.

“Nine trucks, six buses, and eleven Nigeria Customs patrol vehicles were utilized to transport the confiscated bags of rice from the locations,” Oladeji stated.
