Victor Osimhen has expressed that his decision to join Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray in a late summer transfer was entirely his own. In an interview with Turkish media outlet TRT Spor, the 25-year-old Nigerian international discussed his thought process during a challenging period at Napoli, where he contemplated staying until January before ultimately deciding on the move.

“I had plans to stay there and wait for three or four months and leave in January,” Osimhen said. “But I think for me it was fair also to stay there because I wouldn’t let anyone decide for me.”

Osimhen revealed that the convincing nature of a phone call from Galatasaray’s manager, Okan Buruk, played a significant role in his decision to transfer. “When I received the call from the Galatasaray coach, it was really convincing. He said what he wanted to do this season and what he wanted to achieve. I could see what he had set for himself as a man, a coach, and a father,” Osimhen noted.

The former Lille striker highlighted his belief in Galatasaray’s project and the quality of the squad he was joining. “I think I fit in this plan, and coming to a team with a lot of quality players with great ambition made it easy for me to come,” he stated.

Osimhen has already made an impact at Galatasaray, scoring two goals. However, he is set to be sidelined for several weeks due to an injury.
