The African Action Congress (AAC) has designated the Federal High Court, Abuja and the Federal Ministry of Justice as official venues for its presidential campaign activities in October 2026.
The party said its candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has been subjected to judicial harassment and politically motivated distractions.
The decision was contained in a statement issued Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Rex I. Elanu.
According to the AAC, Sowore has been forced to devote a significant part of his campaign time to defending himself in a lawsuit filed by the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Tosin Ajayi.
The party described the suit as frivolous, saying the proceedings have diverted time and resources that should have been spent engaging Nigerians on its political agenda.
”In keeping with our determination to campaign wherever our candidate is compelled to be, the AAC has resolved that the environs of the Federal High Court, Abuja, and the Federal Ministry of Justice shall serve as some of our official campaign venues throughout October 2026,” the statement said.
The party insisted the legal action would not derail its campaign and that it would continue reaching out to Nigerians despite the challenges facing its candidate.
It added that whenever Sowore is required to appear in court to defend his rights, party members would accompany him and use the opportunity to campaign.
The AAC called on members, democracy supporters and other Nigerians to attend the next court sitting slated for Monday, October 19, 2026 at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
According to the statement, the gathering will begin at 8 a.m., with the party saying supporters’ presence would demonstrate commitment to democratic principles and freedom of expression.
