Tragedy struck in Kwara state as unidentified gunmen attacked the palace of Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti local government area, resulting in the death of the traditional ruler, General Segun Aremu (rtd). The attackers also kidnapped the monarch’s wife and two others during the invasion.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reacted to the incident, describing it as “reckless, shocking, and abominable.” The governor, in a statement, urged security agencies to spare no resources in tracking down the perpetrators, securing the release of the kidnapped individuals, and bringing the culprits to justice.

The Kwara State Police Command’s spokeswoman, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway. The attack follows the recent killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti state by unidentified gunmen.

In a separate development, 13 suspects have been arrested in connection with the killings of the Ekiti state traditional rulers. The Nigeria Police Force disclosed this information, emphasizing ongoing efforts to apprehend more suspects and address the escalating violence in the region.
