On September 2, 2023, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State made the following appointments:
- Special Advisers: The governor appointed 14 additional Special Advisers to various ministries, departments, and agencies in the state. These advisers will play crucial roles in providing expert advice and guidance on specific areas of governance.
- Senior Special Reporters: In addition to the Special Advisers, Governor Yusuf also appointed 44 Senior Special Reporters. These individuals are expected to serve in roles that involve reporting, communication, and information dissemination within the government.
- Gender Representation: Among the 44 Senior Special Reporters, there are only 10 women appointed to these positions. Similarly, out of the 14 Special Advisers, two are women. This reflects a partial representation of women in these key roles within the government.
Here are some of the women appointed to these positions:
- Hassana Abubakar: Senior Special Assistant, National Assembly Matters
- Hajiya Mariya Sani-Karaye: Women Mobilisation
- Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu-Yusha’u: Women Mobilisation
- Hadiza Aminu: New Media
- Zainab Ibrahim D: Primary Education
- Rabi Hotoro: Women Affairs
In addition to these roles, two women have been appointed as Special Advisers:
- Dr. Fatima Abubakar Amneef: Special Adviser, Special Assignment (Women)
- Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Idris: Special Adviser (Food Security)
These appointments are part of the governor’s efforts to strengthen governance and enhance communication within the government machinery of Kano State.
