Grieving Governor Umo Eno has paid heartfelt tribute to his late wife, Pastor Patience Eno, describing her as “everything a man could ever wish for in a virtuous woman.” The Akwa Ibom State First Lady passed away nine days ago, and Eno expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his partner of 38 years.

In a Friday morning broadcast titled “We’re Perplexed But Not in Despair,” referencing 2 Corinthians 4:8, the governor shared his grief while also extending gratitude to those who have sent condolences during this difficult time.

Umo stated, “Her Excellency, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience (Oluwakemi) Umo Eno, was my prayer partner, counsellor, cheerleader, best critic, and homemaker, always smiling. I will miss her for a lifetime.”

He thanked President Bola Tinubu and all who have expressed their sympathy, noting the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers received through phone calls, messages, and visits since her passing.

Governor Eno particularly acknowledged the Akwa Ibom community for their solidarity, especially the youth, who suspended their planned national protests in honor of his late wife. “Let me particularly thank our dear people from all strata of life who have risen in unison across party lines to commiserate with us,” he added.

The governor assured the public that they would continue to uphold the initiatives Pastor Patience Eno started, including the Golden Initiative for All (GIFA). He emphasized that the state government would remain focused on its responsibilities and services to the people, as this was always her wish.

In his remarks, he commended security agencies for maintaining peace during this solemn period and urged them to continue their efforts as the state approaches local government elections.

Governor Eno requested respect for his family’s privacy as they navigate this moment of profound loss and bereavement, stating that burial arrangements would be communicated publicly in due course. He concluded with a message of hope, saying, “We will not mourn as those who have no hope in Christ Jesus.”
