The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, assured Abuja residents that the long awaited reopening of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Golf Course, would be ready for the November tournament.
Wike revealed this when he inspected Road S1 Kaura- Infioest, Collector C2 Life Camp- JBN, Arterial N16 Gwarimpa- CBC Global, IBB Golf course- JBN and Gudu (Jereton Mariere street) by Apo legislative Qts- Osikariari, all in Abuja.
Wike recalled that the club was shut because of the crisis between some of the members, and a committee was set up that was led by President of Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem.
Wike said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, directed that they should do everything possible to see that this Golf Course is reopened.
”Seeing the level of work, and in fact from the team leader, the manager, who has also reassured that, of course, there would be a tournament that will take place here in November, and this place will be ready”.
On the other ongoing projects he inspected, he assured that the projects would be completed before the election time.
”It will be a Christmas gift to the residents of Abuja by Mr. President,” he promised.
Speaking on FCT budget, he said after the budget was assented to by President Tinubu, they have implemented about 60 per cent.
“So, we are implementing the budget steadily, we’re progressing, and we are happy with the work we’re doing, at least we can say for today, for the 2026 capital budget, we have not done below 60 per cent, in spite of the fact that the budget was released late,” he added.
