The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) recovered ₦8.62 million during a rescue operation following a road accident on the Zaria-Funtua Road in Kaduna State. The incident occurred around 7 PM on September 30 and involved a Nigerian Army Ford pickup truck and a speeding Toyota Corolla.

According to FRSC spokesperson Olusegun Ogungbemide, the Toyota Corolla, bearing the registration number KTN 316 HK, was speeding beyond the legal limit when the driver lost control, leading to a collision with the Ford pickup, registered as FST 134 FX.

Three individuals were involved in the accident, with two sustaining various injuries and being transported to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika for treatment. The third victim escaped unscathed.

During the rescue operation, FRSC personnel discovered and recovered ₦8.62 million at the crash scene. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed praised the rescue team for their swift and professional response in addressing the situation and managing the recovered funds.

“The Corps Marshal applauded the FRSC rescue team for their successful recovery of the funds during the operation at the crash site,” the statement noted. He also highlighted that speed violations are a significant factor contributing to road accidents in Nigeria, urging motorists to adhere to speed limits. Mohammed encouraged FRSC operatives to uphold the organization’s reputation for integrity.
