The National Industrial Court of Nigeria has ruled against Dr. Adekunle Philips Adewuyi, a former lecturer at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, for breaching the Bond Agreement he entered into with the university. The court declared that Adewuyi and his Surety are jointly and severally indebted to LAUTECH for an amount of =N=3,519,137.57, covering the uncompleted period of two years of service he failed to fulfill. The court ordered Adewuyi and his Surety, Dr. A.A. Raheem, to immediately pay the sum to LAUTECH. However, the court declined to award additional damages and interest, stating that such action would be against public policy. Nonetheless, the judgment fee shall attract a 10 percent interest per annum from July 19, 2023, until fully settled.
