AWKA – Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, renowned for her role as the former Commissioner for Education in Anambra State and as a Mass Communication teacher at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, has achieved a significant milestone by being elected as a Member of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). Her victory, with a total of 753 votes, reflects her prominence in a closely contested election.
The NIPR, entrusted with regulating Public Relations Practitioners in Nigeria and upholding professional standards and ethics, has witnessed the inclusion of Professor Omenugha in its strategic decision-making. Drawing from her extensive background, her insights are poised to enrich the council’s deliberations.
Notably, the election of Dr. Ike Neliaku, a seasoned public relations practitioner, public affairs consultant, and the Managing Director of Right Angle PR, as the President of NIPR, further elevates the institute’s leadership.
The recent developments, highlighted by Dr. Neliaku’s uncontested election by the 17 newly elected council members, followed a spirited competition among institute members at the 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at NAF suites in Abuja. This sequence of events signifies a positive advancement for both the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the broader realm of public relations within Nigeria.”
