The Chairman of Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) has said that efforts are being intensified to curtail the challenges that are being confronted by the citizens of the state, expressing optimism that it would soon be resolved.
To this end, the BIRS boss, Joseph Kwaghgba, who spoke on Wednesday in Makurdi, disclosed that all things being equal, the Federal Government is making concerted efforts to sort out the issue of tax sector administration in the country.
Kwaghgba applauded the Governor Hyacinth Alia-led administration for ensuring invasion of impersonators were permanently resolved.
He recalled that prior to his arrival, there was massive tax evasion in the entire three senatorial districts which make up the state collecting illegal fees from lorry drivers with goods travelling in and out of the state, assuring that the combined efforts of the security operatives have curtailed the menace.
He reassured that there is no threat again as heavy duty vehicles coming to purchase goods of any kind are no longer molested.
“If you pay a prescribed fee to the relevant government agencies, you’re good to go,” he explained.
He emphasised that the cooperation with members of the public and his organisation are overwhelming, and implored that understanding must be sustained.
