    FG flags off a transmission project substation at Ididep, Ibiono in Akwa Ibom

    The Federal Government has flagged off a transmission project for the improvement of electricity supply at Ididep, Ibiono Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.The project is a construction of 2 x 30/40MVA, 123/33kv Substation with 6 feeders which is projected to be completed in 18 months, starting from the date it was approved by Mr. President.

    The Minister of State for Power, Prince Goddy Jedy-Agba disclosed this at the foundation laying ceremony of the transmission substation at Akwa Ibom. The minister who’s on behalf of the Federal Government flagged off a transmission project as was contained in a statement signed by the Director Information/Press, Margaret Oyinboade.

    Jeddy-Agba stated that, the Federal Ministry of Power and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) had to embark on the construction of the Transmission substation project for completion to strengthen the National grid, improve service delivery and increase capacity to supply power to the people of Akwa Ibom,

    He added that upon project completion it will strengthen the National Grid by increasing its wheeling capacity to 25,000MW by 2025. He further informed the gathering that the project was a campaign promise fulfilled by President Muhammad Buhari, GCFR to the people of Akwa Ibom State.

    The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Emmanuel Udom , represented by the Hon. Commissioner of Power and Petroleum, Dr. James John Etim, thanked the Federal Government for bring the project to Akwa Ibom state and promised to support the project.

    Earlier, Senator Ita Enang, and the paramount chief of Ididep Ibiono, HRM. Okuku (Dr.) Ime Udo Usoro, JP during their remarks appreciated, President Muhammadu Buhari, the Ministers and Management of the Ministry of Power, the community heads and people of Akwa Ibom State for their cooperation.He stated that, he is interested in projects that influence the life of people and promised to work with the State Government to ensure the successful completion of the project.

    Director Transimission, Engr. Nosike Emmanuel appreciated the people for attending the groundbreaking ceremony and urged the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State to provide all necessary support and assistance to make the project a reality.
