The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has stated that the Federal Government is prepared to collaborate with state governments to enhance airport facilities and maintain terminal buildings. This commitment was expressed during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Transportation Commissioners Forum to the Minister’s office.

During the meeting, Minister Keyamo emphasized the need for closer cooperation between the Ministry and state governments to improve airport facilities, which are primarily under the jurisdiction of the states. He encouraged state governments to work out the specifics of their proposals, assuring them of the Ministry’s readiness to partner with them.

Keyamo stated, “State governments are our number one partner since we share the same objective. I would like to see greater cooperation between our Ministry and state governments to improve facilities.”

Pastor Ekpenyon Cobham, the Honorable Commissioner of Ministry of Transportation, Cross River State, led the delegation and explained that the visit was a result of the Transportation Commissioners’ conference. The purpose of the visit was to seek collaboration and regular consultation with the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Mrs. Chinwe Uwaegbute, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Transportation Commissioners Forum, highlighted the general complaint of passengers regarding delays or rescheduling by airlines without considering passengers’ rights or offering proper information. This issue underlines the importance of cooperation and synergy between the Ministry of Aviation and the Ministry of Transportation in the states.

The Nigerian Transportation Commissioners Forum expressed well wishes to Minister Keyamo, hoping for a fruitful tenure as he leads the Ministry and works towards improving the aviation and transportation sectors.

The partnership between the Federal Government and state governments is vital for enhancing airport facilities and ensuring a better travel experience for passengers across Nigeria. Through ongoing collaboration, the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development aims to create a more efficient and passenger-friendly aviation sector in the country.
