In a significant move to implement the Nigeria Startup Act, the Federal Government has introduced the Startup Support and Engagement Portal. This portal, a key requirement of the startup legislation, aims to identify and aggregate startups in Nigeria. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, announced the portal’s launch, emphasizing its role in facilitating engagement and support for various players in the startup ecosystem.
Dr. Tijani invited Nigerian startups, venture capital companies, hubs, and innovation centers to register on the portal (https://startup.gov.ng/). The government aims to collaborate with industry stakeholders to ensure the full implementation of the Startup Act, fostering a supportive environment for the country’s innovation ecosystem.
This initiative follows the signing of the Startup Act into law by former President Muhammadu Buhari a year ago. The move is part of ongoing efforts to promote and sustain innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancements in Nigeria. The government’s commitment to collaboration and engagement with stakeholders reflects its dedication to the success of the startup ecosystem.
