President of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Stakeholders Assembly, Aliu Daniel Kwali, at the weekend, said the group is targeting one million votes for President Bola Tinubu and other preferred candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Kwali spoke at a stakeholders’ event in FCT where he reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to mobilise support for preferred candidates.
He said the assembly resolved to deliver Tinubu, Senator Philip Aduda as preferred candidate for FCT Senate seat, and two House of Representatives candidates on January 16, 2027.
According to him, the decision reflects determination to unite residents across political, religious and ethnic divides.
Kwali said the assembly is neither a political party nor a religious organisation, but an umbrella body bringing together residents from different political backgrounds.
He said its philosophy is based on Rainbow Coalition concept, encouraging people with shared interests to work together irrespective of affiliations.
”Our common interest is to deliver Mr President come 2027, our common interest is to deliver Distinguished Senator Philip Aduda and two members of National Assembly,” he said.
He commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Chief of Staff for guidance and support in strengthening the relationship between FCT administration and organisation.
He also acknowledged the political leadership of Umaru, describing his influence as significant to the territory’s political activities.
Kwali thanked members who contributed financially despite funding challenges, disclosing some contributed from personal savings.
He said the assembly will sustain mobilisation and promote cooperation ahead of elections.
Speaking on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly candidates, Aduda commended Tinubu for appointing Wike as FCT Minister, saying the administration has recorded achievements in infrastructure and human capital.
He urged indigenous people and residents to sustain support for Tinubu, assuring candidates, if elected, will promote legislation for good governance.
Chairman of APC in FCT, Ishaku Tanko, praised Wike for fostering cooperation across party lines, describing Rainbow Coalition as new politics without bitterness.
His Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Samaila Dogara, also backed initiative saying Tinubu’s decision to appoint a minister from outside the FCT political establishment gave the territory a stronger voice in FG.
The event featured the unveiling of the assembly’s preferred candidates, including Aduda and two House of Representatives candidates.
