Fayose Denies handling contracts in Ekiti, says Wike ‘always there for me’

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has denied allegations that he handles government contracts in the state, insisting that he has no business being a contractor at his age.

Speaking on Monday during the inauguration of the Igbara-Odo–Ikogosi road to mark Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s third anniversary in office, Fayose dismissed claims linking him to the flyover project in Ado-Ekiti.

“I’m not a contractor and I don’t get government contracts. I’m too old for that,” Fayose said. “My friend Wike, if I ever need anything, won’t he give me? Ekiti has nothing anybody would take from here.”

He described the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a steadfast friend who always supports him when necessary.

The former governor also pledged his full support for Oyebanji’s second-term bid, declaring: “For me and all I represent, we are going to stand by you.”

Reflecting on his own time in office, Fayose added with characteristic bluntness, “During my tenure, I fought wars, morning, afternoon, and night.”
