Fayose Alleges Makinde Plot to Remove Olubadan

    Published on

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has alleged that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is planning to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja.

Fayose made the claim in a post on š• on Sunday, stating that the alleged move would begin with official queries issued against the monarch.

According to Fayose, the purported plan would start with a government query accusing the traditional ruler of failing to attend a recent coronation ceremony in Ibadan.

Fayose wrote, ā€œI heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja.

ā€œThe plot is to commence this week, with a Government Query to be issued against the Olubadan, citing his absence at the failed coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland two weeks ago, and other allegations.ā€

In the post, the former governor also criticised Makinde, describing him as a ā€œsigidi,ā€ a Yoruba term for a statuette.

ā€œAs for us, we will be watching the SƬgƬdƬ of Seyi Makinde tó fẹ́ se erĆ© ẹ̀tẹ́,ā€ he added.

    Palace Dismisses Rift Speculation
Fayose’s allegation comes amid speculation about a possible disagreement between the monarch and the Oyo State Government.

However, the Olubadan Palace recently dismissed reports of any rift between the traditional ruler and Governor Makinde.

In a statement, the palace described the claims as unfounded.

ā€œWe wish to make it abundantly clear that there is no rift between Kabiyesi and Olori omo oba of Ibadanland,ā€ the statement said.

The palace also clarified reports about the monarch’s absence at the coronation event.

ā€œIn addition, the Olubadan did not travel out of Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony. Kabiyesi is hale and hearty in Ibadan and performing the role expected of him as Olubadan,ā€ the statement added.

The palace urged members of the public to disregard unverified claims and rely on official sources for accurate information.
