The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has welcomed the landmark judgment delivered yesterday (Thursday) by the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, which dismissed the long-standing appeal filed by the factional group led by Arc Kabiru Ibrahim.
In a statement issued shortly after the judgment, AFAN’s National Media Executive, Comrade Ibrahim Garba, commended the judiciary for upholding justice and truth, describing the verdict as a long-awaited victory for Nigerian farmers and the rule of law.
“This is a moment of relief and vindication for the authentic leadership of AFAN, ably led by Alhaji Dr. Farouk Rabi’u Mudi.
The Appeal Court, under the presiding Justice Gumel, has finally put to rest years of distraction and illegitimacy by dismissing the meritless case filed by Arc Kabiru Ibrahim and his faction, imposing a fine of ₦200,000 against him,” the statement read.
Comrade Ibrahim Garba Iceman stated that the ruling confirms beyond any doubt that Dr. Farouk Mudi is the only recognized and legitimate President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria. He urged all stakeholders — including farmers, government institutions, and development partners — to take note of this clear judicial pronouncement and henceforth relate only with the legally affirmed leadership.
“We thank our members nationwide for their patience, resilience, and unwavering loyalty during this turbulent legal journey. We now call for unity across the agricultural sector as we move forward with renewed commitment to supporting the policies of the Federal Government and ensuring food security for our dear nation,” he said.
The AFAN Media Executive also called on Arc Kabiru Ibrahim and his co-travelers to respect the decision of the court and desist from any further acts that may attempt to undermine the association or sow discord among farmers.
The court’s verdict is expected to bring a decisive end to the leadership tussle that has affected the operations of the association for several years, clearing the path for a focused and united agricultural front under the leadership of Mudi.
