    FactCheck Africa Convener Abideen Olasupo to Speak at One Young World Summit in Canada

    Abideen Olasupo, convener of FactCheck Africa, has been selected as a delegate speaker at the 2024 One Young World Summit in Montréal, Canada. The summit, which starts tomorrow and runs until September 21, will assemble 2,000 young leaders and experts from over 190 countries and 250 organizations to tackle global challenges, with a significant focus on artificial intelligence (AI).

    Olasupo is scheduled to lead a session titled “How Can Humanity Make AI a Force for Good?” This discussion will delve into the complexities of AI, emphasizing ethical development and its potential to benefit society.

    Key topics will include strategic AI integration across various sectors, the establishment of ethical frameworks, and exploring future trends and implications of AI technology.

    Reflecting on his upcoming role, Olasupo expressed enthusiasm about addressing the important conversation on AI. “AI has the potential to transform industries and societies, but it is crucial to develop and implement it with a strong ethical framework,” he said.

    Olasupo is eager to collaborate with fellow leaders and share strategies on how to responsibly harness AI for societal good. He also highlighted significant achievements by MyAIfactChecker, including selection for the Google Startup Challenge, partnerships with Stanford University, and recognition by Meta.

    “These milestones underscore the credibility of our platform. We’ve trained over 41 journalists across West Africa, and presenting our solutions on the global stage at One Young World is a tremendous honor,” Olasupo noted. He is particularly excited to discuss the ethical concerns and regulations surrounding AI in Africa and beyond.

    One Young World is renowned for convening young leaders to address urgent global issues and promote social impact, offering a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and youth empowerment.
