Eze dismisses ‘peace meeting’ between Fubara, Wike as political drama

A former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has dismissed reports of a “peace meeting” allegedly held between Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, and their loyalists.

Reacting to reports and photos circulating online, Eze described the event as “a mere courtesy visit” rather than a reconciliation effort, saying it lacked the balance and structure of a genuine peace dialogue.

“From the pictures, it’s clear this was no peace meeting but a gathering of political loyalists led by Wike,” he said. “A true peace effort would involve equal representation from both factions, including key figures who stood by Governor Fubara during the height of the crisis.”

He listed notable absentees who should have been present in any genuine reconciliation meeting, including Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie, Sir Tele Ikuru, Dr. Sam Jaja, and High Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, among others.

Eze accused the meeting’s organisers of ulterior motives, alleging it was aimed at intimidating the governor and cornering the state’s resources.

“The goal was to impose certain undemocratic elements on the governor as commissioners and aides,” he claimed. “This has nothing to do with peace but everything to do with control and influence.”

He described Wike as “a man not known for peace” and cautioned Governor Fubara to tread carefully.

“Tinubu and Wike have turned Rivers State into a national laughingstock,” Eze said. “The governor must seek divine wisdom to navigate this dangerous terrain.”

He also called on churches and well-meaning Nigerians to pray for Rivers State, saying the state must be freed “from satanic forces determined to loot its resources.”
