Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that his administration would soon impose a 25% tariff on EU goods, the European Commission, or EU, said on Wednesday that it will respond “firmly and immediately” to unwarranted obstacles to free and fair trade.
This was stated by an EU spokeswoman in reaction to Trump’s remarks, according to Reuters.
When tariffs are used to undermine legitimate and non-discriminatory measures, the EU will respond forcefully and swiftly to unwarranted obstacles to free and fair trade.
In an emailed statement, the spokeswoman stated, “The EU will always protect European businesses, workers, and consumers from unjustified tariffs.”
Remember how Trump threatened to impose 25% tariffs on the European Union?
The 27-nation alliance was “formed to screw the United States,” he added.
This was stated by the Republican during his first cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“We have decided on a course of action and will make the announcement shortly. It will be a quarter,” Trump stated.
