Enabulele dedicates Edo weightlifting triumph to Gov Okpebholo

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has hailed Edo’s resounding success in weightlifting at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, dedicating the historic feat to the visionary leadership of the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Team Edo emerged overall champions, securing a commanding haul of 9 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, finishing well ahead of rivals Akwa Ibom, Abia, and others. This dominance, especially the clean sweep of all nine gold medals in the women’s weightlifting categories, underscored Edo’s unmatched strength in the sport.

In a statement by Edoko Wilson Edoko, Media Officer to the Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Enabulele described the achievement as a direct reflection of Governor Okpebholo’s renewed commitment to youth and sports development in Edo State.

“This triumph is the fruit of purposeful leadership. His Excellency has created the enabling environment, inspired our athletes, and given us the resources to succeed. Today, our weightlifters have only validated the Governor’s dream of making Edo the true heartbeat of Nigerian sports.”

He further emphasized that the Governor’s style of leadership—marked by vision, sincerity, and inclusiveness—has rekindled the spirit of excellence in Edo’s sporting community.

“Governor Okpebholo is a leader who not only dreams but also acts. His passion for the youth and his faith in the capacity of Edo athletes to excel is unmatched. This victory is his legacy, and we dedicate it to him with pride and gratitude,” he added.

Enabulele stressed that such superlative results were possible only because Governor Okpebholo placed a premium value on grassroots youth talent discovery and nurturing.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman also assured that the Commission, under the Governor’s guidance, will continue to sustain this momentum by identifying more talents across the state, grooming them into champions, and projecting Edo’s excellence beyond national borders. “The future is bright because the Governor has given us a roadmap and the courage to dream big. Edo sports is on a new trajectory of greatness,” he noted.

Hon. Enabulele concluded by describing Governor Okpebholo as a God-sent leader and restorer of Edo pride, declaring that this weightlifting victory is only the beginning of many milestones to come. “In politics, governance, and now sports, His Excellency is redefining what it means to lead. Edo is proud, and Nigeria will soon celebrate even greater victories because of his unmatched commitment to the people.”
