The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has felicitated with the Muslims in Plateau State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Mutfwang, in a statement issued by hos Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Gyang Bere, implored the Muslim faithful to use the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on the exemplary life and teachings of Muhammad, particularly his virtues of peace, justice, compassion, tolerance, and respect for people of different faiths.
The Governor commended the Jos Annual Maulud Committee of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) for adopting the theme, ‘Emulating the prophetic way of peace, mutual respect and religious freedom,’ noting that it aptly captures the values required to strengthen peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding in a diverse society.
He urged the Muslims to use the occasion to offer prayers for peace, unity, and the security of Plateau State, while calling on citizens to reject violence and all forms of hatred that threaten the peaceful coexistence of communities.
Mutfwang further reaffirmed the commitment of his administration, under the ‘Time is now’ agenda, to providing an enabling environment where every citizen can freely practise his or her faith without hindrance.
He also assured the people that the government would continue to take decisive measures against criminals seeking to disrupt the peace and stability of the state.
On behalf of the Government and the good people of the state, Mutfwang prayed for blessings upon Plateau State, with lasting peace, unity, and prosperity for the country at large.
