‎The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC( has questioned two prominent supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over allegations of naira abuse.

‎The activists, Peter Akah, popularly known as ‘Peter for Nigeria’, and Precious Oruche, also known as ‘Mama Pee’, were interrogated at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

‎Their lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, said the commission had invited the duo through separate letters dated June 24, asking them to report on July 6, 2026.

‎The date was later rescheduled to July 15 after the legal team told the commission that the activists would not be available on the earlier date.

‎Effiong said he accompanied both Akah and Oruche to the EFCC office, where they answered questions from investigators for several hours before being released.

‎On the allegations, the lawyer explained that the money seen in the video under investigation was not real currency.

‎”Our clients clarified that what was referenced were prop money used for entertainment purposes and not naira notes,” Effiong stated.

‎He commended the EFCC for professionalism during the interrogation and assured that the activists are “in high spirits,” adding that they would return for further interactions as investigations continue.
