The Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday, gave approval to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s request to borrow N100 billion to finance infrastructural development across the State.
The lawmakers in their separate remarks, unanimously approved the request, noting that it would help the administration to complete all ongoing infrastructure projects.
The legislators added that the facility would help to finance the deficit in the 2025 approved budget.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku expressed support for the governor’s request and directed that a clean copy of the approval should be sent to him for immediate action.
Governor Okpebholo in a letter dated June 23rd, 2025 and addressed to the House, said the loan approval would be geared towards the realisation of his government’s five-point agenda.
In the letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, the governor explained that the contractor finance loan facility would be sourced from the First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
He added that the decision to obtain the loan facility was taken at the State Executive Council’s meeting held on June 17, 2025.
