DSS Complies with Presidential Order, Vacates Shared Office with EFCC in Lagos.

According to reports, the DSS had barricaded the office of the anti-corruption agency on Tuesday morning but later vacated the premises on Tuesday night as instructed by the president.

President Tinubu had ordered the DSS to immediately vacate the office, stating that any issues between the “two important agencies of government” should be resolved amicably.

As of the time of this report, normalcy appears to have been restored at the EFCC offices on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, with no signs of barriers or barricades around the building that hindered the agency’s officials from accessing the premises on Tuesday.

Earlier, the DSS operatives had stormed the EFCC office in Lagos, preventing the anti-graft agency’s officials from entering the building in Ikoyi.

In a statement on its official Facebook page, the EFCC described the siege as shocking and highlighted the broader implications for Nigeria’s fight against economic and financial crimes.

The EFCC statement expressed concern over the denial of access to their offices, disruption of operations at their largest hub, cancellation of scheduled court hearings, and neglect of suspects in detention.

The DSS, in response, issued a statement through its spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, denying that they barricaded the EFCC office or prevented EFCC officials from entering the building.

The DSS statement clarified that they were occupying their own facility while carrying out their official responsibilities, and there was no controversy over the ownership of the building on Awolowo Road.

It is worth noting that Awolowo Road was formerly the headquarters of the National Security Organization (NSO), which later became the State Security Service (SSS)/Department of State Services (DSS).
