Micheal Ajereh, widely known as Don Jazzy and CEO of Mavin Records, has shared insights into his strategic approach for his artistes’ music releases. In a recent interview with Nigerian YouTuber Fisayo Fosudo, Don Jazzy revealed why he avoids scheduling music releases on the same day as popular artists like Wizkid or Asake.
Don Jazzy explained that releasing music concurrently with major artists such as Wizkid or Asake could be detrimental to his artistes’ projects. “Releasing on the same day as Wizkid or Asake would be suicidal,” he stated. Consequently, Mavin Records is shifting their release dates from the traditional Friday to Wednesdays and Thursdays to avoid clashes with other high-profile releases. “If my artiste is set to release on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also dropping that day, I will move our release date. You don’t want to just die a natural death,” he added.
Meanwhile, former Mavin Records artist Korede Bello has spoken about his ongoing relationship with Don Jazzy after leaving the label. In an interview on TVC’s “Your View Pidgin,” Bello affirmed that their bond remains strong despite his departure. “When you enter a relationship, you want to be with someone who remains kind even on bad days. Don Jazzy and I have always had a respectful relationship. Although our contractual agreement ended, we still consider each other family,” Bello said.
The singer also received praise for his new album, “KoreDay,” highlighting the continued support from fans across the country.
