The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, has praised the Supreme Court’s judgment affirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the February 25, 2023, presidential election. Senator Barau described the ruling as a victory for democracy and encouraged the appellants to work with President Tinubu to address the country’s challenges.

The Supreme Court had dismissed appeals by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi. Senator Barau expressed his confidence in the judiciary’s decision and commended the justices for upholding the electorate’s choice in the presidential election.

He emphasized the National Assembly’s commitment to introducing legislation that supports the executive’s initiatives for economic revival, sustainable peace, unity, and the overall development of Nigeria.
