Paris Saint-Germain’s forward Ousmane Dembele has been left out of the squad for their UEFA Champions League match against Arsenal on September 30, 2024. A source close to the club confirmed to AFP that Dembele’s absence is not due to injury but is “a decision of the coach,” Luis Enrique.
This exclusion appears to be a disciplinary action following a heated exchange between Dembele and Enrique after PSG’s 3-1 victory over Rennes in Ligue 1 on Friday, as reported by sports daily L’Equipe.
Dembele, who has been in excellent form this season with four goals and four assists in just six league matches, will be missed. PSG is likely to lean more on Bradley Barcola, the current leading scorer in Ligue 1 with six goals, including two from the recent win over Rennes.
Meanwhile, Marco Asensio is racing against time to recover from an injury sustained during PSG’s Champions League opener against Girona two weeks ago.
