The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, has called for renewed unity and collaboration within the party as PDP governors converged in Gusau, Zamfara State, for a strategic meeting.

The high-level gathering, hosted at the Government House in Gusau, is part of efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, by Nuru Shehu, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Acting Chairman, Damagum emphasized the importance of synergy between party organs and leaders to restore public confidence and strengthen internal democracy.

Speaking at a gala night held ahead of the meeting, the Acting Chairman lauded the PDP Governors’ Forum for its commitment to the party’s ideals. He described the Forum as a stabilizing force and expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation among party leaders.

“The PDP has overcome its past divisions. We are more united, more focused, and determined to deliver real change to Nigerians,” Damagum said.

The gala also highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Zamfara State, symbolizing the party’s message of solidarity, inclusiveness, and shared vision.

Today’s meeting is expected to address pressing national issues, party reforms, and election strategies in preparation for 2027. Damagum remains optimistic that the PDP, with collective effort, is Nigeria’s most viable platform for good governance.
