    Cape Verde goalie, Vozinha makes WC team of tournament

    ‎FIFA unveiled its official 2026 FIFA World Cup Team of the Tournament, with Cape Verde’s goalkeeper, Vozinha, in the star-studded XI.

    ‎The team also the newly crowned champions, Spain, providing the highest number of players.

    ‎The team, arranged in a 4-3-3 formation, recognises the standout performers from the tournament staged across Canada, Mexico and the United States, featuring players from seven different countries.

    ‎Spain, who lifted the World Cup trophy after defeating Argentina in the final, have three representatives in the squad. Full-backs Marc Cucurella and Pedro Porro are joined by midfielder Rodri, whose influential performances helped steer La Roja to their second World Cup title.

    ‎Finalists Argentina also have two players in the selection. Captain Lionel Messi earned a place in the attack after another memorable tournament, while defender Lisandro Martínez was included for his solid displays at the back.

    ‎France matched Spain with three representatives in the XI. Kylian Mbappé and Michael Olise were named in the forward line, while central defender Dayot Upamecano secured a place after helping Les Bleus reach the semi-finals.

    ‎England midfielder Jude Bellingham was rewarded for another impressive World Cup campaign with a place in midfield.

    ‎Norway striker Erling Haaland leads the attack after finishing among the tournament’s top scorers, while Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha completes the team following a series of outstanding performances that made him one of the surprise stars of the competition.

    ‎FIFA World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament include: Goalkeeper: Vozinha (Cape Verde), Defenders: Pedro Porro (Spain), Dayot Upamecano (France), Lisandro Martínez (Argentina), Marc Cucurella (Spain); Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (England), Rodri (Spain), Michael Olise (France); Forwards: Lionel Messi (Argentina), Erling Haaland (Norway), Kylian Mbappé (France).
