Ahead of the 27th edition of the Handball African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2026), the Confederation of African Handball (CAHB) in conjunction with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has officially unveiled the competition’s logo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The unveiling ceremony took place in Kigali, Rwanda, the host city for the tournament, signaling the start of preparations for one of Africa’s most prestigious handball events.

The tournament is scheduled to hold from January 21 to 31, 2026, and will feature 16 qualified teams, including Nigeria, who have already secured their place among the continent’s elite.

According to the organizers, the newly unveiled logo embodies the spirit of unity, athleticism, and African heritage, reflecting Rwanda’s rich culture and the competitive passion that defines the championship.

CAHB officials expressed optimism that the 2026 edition would set new standards in organization and entertainment, as Kigali continues to position itself as a hub for major continental sporting events.

With just a few months to go, all participating nations are expected to intensify preparations as Africa’s best handball talents prepare to battle for continental glory.
