Bayelsa Queens unveil Chidi Harmony ahead 2025/26 NWFL season

Bayelsa Queens Football Club of Yenagoa has officially unveiled talented forward Chidi Harmony as their latest signing ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership season.

Harmony joins the Prosperity Girls on loan from Imo Strikers FC.

A versatile player, she can operate both as a centre-forward and a utility player.

Chidi Harmony was part of Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, that featured at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony held at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Wednesday, Club Chairman Pastor Robin Angonimi Apreala said the addition of Chidi Harmony is part of the club’s renewed effort to strengthen the squad and secure a continental ticket in the coming season.

“We have decided to recruit new players whom we believe have the quality and determination to help us achieve our goals. With the strong support of the Bayelsa State Government and other stakeholders, we are confident of meeting our target,” Apreala said.

He commended Governor Douye Diri for his unwavering commitment to sports development in the state, noting that the team’s success and preparations would not have been possible without the governor’s continued support.

Apreala also appreciated Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Commissioner for Sports Development Dr. Baraladei Daniel Igali (OLY), and other key stakeholders for their contributions toward the growth and stability of Bayelsa Queens FC.

The unveiling marks another bold step by the reigning champions as they gear up for a competitive NWFL Premiership season after their failure to secure a CAF Champions League ticket at the WAFU B regional qualifier.
