‎The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old housewife, Hauwa’u Haruna, for allegedly killing her co-wife, Jamila Adamu, during a domestic incident at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate, Bauchi.

    ‎

‎The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.

    ‎

‎Habib said the incident occurred around 4:05pm on September 27, 2026, after the C-Division, Bauchi, received a report of a domestic incident involving the two women.

    ‎

‎According to the police spokesman, preliminary investigation indicated that Hauwa’u, the second wife, allegedly picked up a pestle and struck Jamila, 43, on the forehead, causing her to lose consciousness.

    ‎

‎The statement read, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the second wife, one Hauwa’u Haruna, 33 years old, allegedly acting under hallucinations, armed herself with a pestle and struck the first wife, one Jamila Adamu, 43 years old, on the forehead. Consequently, the victim fell unconscious.”

    ‎

‎Habib said detectives attached to the C-Division immediately mobilised to the scene after receiving the report.

    ‎

‎He added, “The scene was documented, and the victim was rushed to the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where she was certified dead by a medical doctor. Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.”

    ‎

‎The police spokesman said the suspect was arrested, while the pestle allegedly used in the attack was recovered as an exhibit.

    ‎

‎He said the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, had directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation and prosecution.

    ‎

‎“The CP condoles with the bereaved family and cautions the public against domestic violence, while advising families to seek timely medical and psychosocial support for members exhibiting mental health challenges,” the statement added.
