Aruna storms into WTT Champions Macao last 16

    Published on

Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna made a commanding start at the WTT Champions Macao 2025, brushing aside China’s Huang Youzheng in straight sets to book his spot in the men’s singles round of 16.

The world number 26, who has battled inconsistency in recent months, looked rejuvenated at the Macao East Asian Games Dome, dispatching the wildcard entrant 11-3, 11-8, 11-8.

Aruna tallied 33 points overall—19 on his own serve and 14 on return—outclassing Huang, who managed just 19 points in total.

With the win, the Nigerian ace now awaits the outcome of Wednesday’s clash between Germany’s Patrick Franziska and sixth seed Xiang Peng of China to determine his next opponent.
