The Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual tax returns by 30 days, granting taxpayers additional time to meet statutory obligations.

In a statement signed by its Executive Chairman, Ikeazor Nnaemeka Okonkwo, the agency announced that the original deadline of March 31, 2026, has been shifted to April 30, 2026.

According to AIRS, the extension creates a new filing window from April 1 to April 30, 2026, aimed at allowing taxpayers ample time to accurately complete and submit their returns in line with provisions of the Nigeria Tax Administration Act.

The Agency urged individuals to take advantage of the grace period to ensure full compliance and avoid penalties associated with late or incorrect filings.

It also reminded taxpayers to declare all sources of income and provide necessary supporting documents for any reliefs claimed.

AIRS stressed that all tax returns must be filed through its approved electronic platform.

The agency warned that failure to meet the new April 30 deadline will attract penalties and possible enforcement actions in accordance with existing tax laws, adding that no further extension will be granted.

Taxpayers requiring assistance were advised to contact the nearest AIRS office or access the agency’s official communication channels.
