    Aladja Grammar School Celebrates 50 Years of Excellence

    The Aladja Grammar School in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State is set to celebrate her golden jubilee.

    Mr Andrew Okrakene, President of the Aladja Grammar School Old Students Association disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday in Warri.

    Okrakene led some members of the association to the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents Chapel to make the disclosure.

    He said that the epoch event was slated for between September 27 and 29, 2024 and solicited for media parley.

    Okrakene said that the three-day event would highlight the institution’s legacy as the first secondary school established in the Udu Local Government Area.

    He said that Aladja Grammar School had produced a number of notable alumni, including the Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori and Hon. Francis Waive, member
    representing the Udu, Ughelli South and Ughelli North Federal Constituency.

    Okrakene added that the duo were alumni of the school and would attend the celebration.

    He recalled that the school was founded in September 1974 adding that it has achieved remarkable goals in the past five decades.

    “Aladja Grammar School has served as a beacon of learning in the past fifty years, shaping the lives of countless students and making significant contributions to the society.

    “This is a time of reflection, appreciation and anticipation as we honour five decades of academic excellence, character building and community engagement at Aladja Grammar School.

    “Over the last five decades, Aladja Grammar School has grown from its humble begining in 1974 to become a leading institution in Udu Local Government Area of Delta.

    “Being the first Secondary School in Udu Local Government Area, we are proud of our long history of academic achievements.

    “The event is not just about nostalgia but also about coming together to support the future of this great institution,” he said.

    Okrakene said that the school had produced graduates that had excelled in various disciplines including: engineering, medicine, law, arts and public service and among others.

    On his part, Dr Henry Sakpra, Chairman, Delta State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency said that the three-day celebration would kick-off with an interactive session between the alumni and current students of the school as well as a commemorative road walk

    He said that day two of the event would featured a lecture with distinguished speakers, including prominent academia and community leaders, closely followed by a luncheon where awards would be presented and funds raised for the development of the school.

    According to the former chairman of Udu Local Government Area, the celebration will be concluded with a thanksgiving service at Holy Trinity African Church, Aladja.

    Sakpra, who is also the Chairman, Organising Committee of the event said that the celebration was not just a reunion but a representation of their commitment to the future of education in the community.

    He noted that Aladja Grammar School had produced a number of notable alumni, including state governors, federal legislators, and successful entrepreneurs.

    Sakpra, however, said that as the school prepared for this milestone, the alumni community looked forward to reflecting on its shared history and reaffirmed its dedication to supporting future generations of students
