Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to embrace sacrifice, unity and national renewal as Muslims celebrate Eid El Kabir festival
In a message released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio felicitated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Muslim faithful worldwide.
The Senate President said the festival reminds believers of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith, obedience and willingness to sacrifice for Almighty Allah.
He noted that the virtues of devotion, selflessness and submission to divine will are values Nigeria needs at this time.
“These timeless virtues of devotion, selflessness, and submission to divine will are values our nation desperately needs today,” Akpabio stated.
He extended greetings to the President, Vice President and Muslims across the country on behalf of his family, constituents and the Senate.
“May the lessons of sacrifice, compassion, and generosity that define this season strengthen your faith and bring peace to your homes,” he said.
Akpabio added that sharing with the less privileged and extending love to neighbours of all faiths embodies the true spirit of Nigeria.
He urged all Nigerians to use the period for fervent prayers for peace, security and prosperity.
The Senate President prayed for troops on the frontlines, for farmers to return safely to their fields, and for unity to prevail over division.
He said Eid El Kabir also calls for deep reflection on Nigeria’s future, likening the nation’s current moment to Prophet Ibrahim’s test.
“Just as Prophet Ibrahim was tested, Nigeria is in a season of testing,” Akpabio said.
He stressed that sacrifices made today in patience, tolerance and choosing hope over despair will shape the Nigeria inherited by future generations.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, supported by the National Assembly, is anchored on the principle that progress requires collective sacrifice.
“May Almighty Allah accept your prayers and sacrifices. May He heal our land, guide our leaders, and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he prayed.
