AFCON 2025: Gusau quashes fears of manipulative officiating in Super Eagles vs Morocco

    Published on

President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Ibrahim Gusau has said he has no fear of match officials being biased in the Super Eagles’ semi-final encounter against the Atlas Lions of Morocco.

The majority of Nigerian fans have expressed fears of possible manipulative officiating when the Super Eagles take on the hosts in Rabat on Thursday.

Match officials have been accused of bias in matches involving the host nation at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Fans pointed to a number of questionable calls in Morocco’s wins against Tanzania and Cameroon.

Gusau, however, said he is confident in the ability of the match officials to do a good job in the game.

“I do not have the same fears of the match officials being biased as some people have. I believe that the grass is always green and that the playing pitch is level. I do not see a situation in which the match officials will be working against any team’s interest,” Gusau told thenff.com.

Ghana Daniel Laryea has been appointed the centre referee for the game.
