The Wuse Ward chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Federal Capital Territory has announced the indefinite suspension of Ireti Kingibe over alleged anti-party activities and violation of party rules.
The announcement was made by the ward chairman, Kanayo Chukwu, during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja.
Chukwu said the decision followed a general meeting of the ward held on March 10, 2026, where members deliberated on several allegations against the senator.
According to him, the meeting reportedly had more than 2,000 participants and examined accusations including: Confiscation of the ward register, Running a parallel membership registration process, Persistent absence from ward meetings, Failure to pay statutory party dues, Acts considered insubordinate to party leadership.
He said members resolved to suspend the senator after what he described as serious breaches of party rules.
“After due consideration of the above grave offences, a motion was moved by the general house for the immediate suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe, and it was ratified by a two-thirds majority of the executives present,” Chukwu said.
The ward chairman said the suspension had been formally forwarded to the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council chapter of the party, Omale Sule, for ratification in line with the party’s procedures.
Confirming receipt of the resolution, Sule said the matter would proceed through the party’s constitutional process before any final decision is taken.
“As the party chairman at the local government level, I must wait for the official submission. Once received, it will be forwarded to the state chairman for further action,” he said.
Also speaking, the FCT chairman of the party, Clement Ehijiator, said the report had been received and would be examined in accordance with the party’s constitution.
According to him, the meeting where the suspension emerged was initially convened to discuss membership registration and other party matters in the territory.
“As the constitutional chairman of the party in the FCT, I have received the report. We will examine the allegations and take appropriate steps in line with the party’s constitution before forwarding it to the national leadership,” he said.
During the meeting, party members also passed a vote of confidence in Ehijiator, commending his leadership of the party in the Federal Capital Territory.
